Idea for Fuel Economizer...Chart a New Course and Set Sail!

There are route planners for direct or scenic planning but do not seem to be a planner to maximize fuel economy.  Maybe this would be particularly helpful for truck drivers.  Maybe planner could take into account driving time, prevailing winds, topography, etc. – to make the least expensive driving route.  One way to do this would be to combine existing trip planners with GPS information, topographical information, and weather information.

Also to maximize fuel economy there could be sails on trucks or trains to take advantage of current winds.  An on-board computer could automatically adjust these sails for maximum assist.  Even small sails could save fuel, especially on a long train.

Possible Start Building Blocks –
  • Existing concepts for trip planners, vehicle computers, internet access to road and weather conditions, etc.

  • USPTO Class/Subclasses for "How-To" ideas – 701/211, 701/201, 364/449
