Idea for Manually Operated Sump Pump

There seems to be electric sump pumps – both household current and battery operated.  There does not seem to be a manual sump pump – similar to the old-fashioned water pumps.  There are also water alarms on the market to signal when the pump is not working.  With a manual pump feature the electric pump could still work if the problem was electrical.  In addition, there could be a separate manual pump that could be foot or hand operated.

There could also be an alarm associated with this manual pump signaling that water level was rising and manual pumping is necessary.  The alarm could be non-electric too – similar to a windup alarm clock with a mechanical float trigger to turn the alarm on when water is high and off when the water is low.
Possible Start Building Blocks –
  • Existing concepts for old time manual water pumps, manual fluid pumps to pump out of a barrel or the like, old time windmills to pump water from wells, etc.

  • USPTO Class/Subclasses for "How-To" ideas – 417/540, 417/36, 417/17
